Connor McMahon vs Stephen Boward

Boxing Daily Report from the Jon Crosby promoted show at Spencer McElligott Gym, Brighton and Hove,  taking place on 12/02/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the British-Southern England Light Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Connor McMahon (12(3) - 0) who hails from Bristol, UK and Stephen Boward(10 - 12(2)) from London, UK.  Both McMahon and Boward weighed in at 175 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Ahearn, and the three ringside judges are Brett Henrie, Zach Underwood and Frank McCance.  

Round 1: 

McMahon is on target with a cross.  
McMahon steps away from his opponent.  McMahon sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands an overhand right followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
McMahon feints a cross, and then throws an overhand left, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
McMahon pivots to the side of his opponent and is on target with a left uppercut to Boward's body.  
McMahon tries to keep the action at long range and lands a ramrod jab.  
McMahon lands a cross followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Boward gets on the inside.  McMahon pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  He then lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Boward gets on the inside and throws a right hook, but McMahon ties up his opponent.  McMahon is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns McMahon.  
Boward walks his opponent onto the ropes.  McMahon snaps his opponents head back with a sharp jab.  
McMahon lands a jab to the head, a cross to the body and a cross to the head.  
Boward steps inside and throws a left hook, but McMahon holds on to his opponent.  McMahon is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks McMahon's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Boward manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Boward connects with a left hook.  
McMahon is on target with a jab.  
Boward throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action.  The ref sends McMahon to the neutral corner.  He has a stern word with Boward and threatens a point deduction if continues to foul.  
McMahon tries to step out of his opponents range.  Boward attempts to land an overhand right, but McMahon sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
McMahon lowers his hands, trying to provoke his opponent to attack.  Boward attempts to land a cross, but McMahon dodges the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Boward's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Boward's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.

McMahon sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Boward throws a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
McMahon lands a jab to the body followed by a cross to the head.  
McMahon steps away from his opponent and lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
McMahon tries to land a jab, but Boward slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
McMahon steps to the outside and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Boward closes the distance.  McMahon lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  McMahon ties up his opponent.  McMahon leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Boward advances into close range and manouvers McMahon onto the ropes.  Boward quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  McMahon digs in a right hook to Boward's ribcage.  
McMahon tries to keep the action at long range and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Boward steps inside.  McMahon lands a left hook.  
McMahon steps away from his opponent and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
McMahon is looking to keep his distance and lands a cross, overhand left and a cross to his opponents head.
