Darryl Rielly vs Arran Rowan

Boxing Daily Report from the Hennessy Boxing promoted show at Geelong Baseball Centre, Geelong,  taking place on 28/03/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Oceania Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SBS1, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Darryl Rielly (15(9) - 1(1)) who hails from Sydney, Australia and Arran Rowan(12 - 2(1) - 1) from Gold Coast, Australia.  Rielly weighed in at 231 pounds and 12 ounces, while Rowan weighed in at 243 pounds and 8 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Gus Seward, and the three ringside judges are Kyle Hinshaw, Johnny Elias and Sammy Lorimer.  

Round 1: 

Rielly lands a right hook to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Rielly hits home with a firm cross.  
Rowan steps inside and walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Rowan throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Rielly lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Rielly is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Rielly feints a jab, and then connects with a cross.  
Rowan gets on the inside.  Rielly lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Rowan is looking to close the distance.  Rielly lands a right hook to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Rielly tries to land a right uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a firm cross.  
Rielly sees his opponent is hurt.  He's looking for the finish!  Rielly lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents head, DROPPING ROWAN TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  Rowan now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Rielly is looking to keep his distance and is on target with a firm jab to his opponents body.  
Rielly lands a cross to the head, a jab to the body and a cross to the head.  
Rowan gets on the inside.  Rielly is on target with a firm right hook to his opponents body.  
Rielly tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Rowan lands with a spiteful jab.  
Rielly steps away from his opponent.  Rielly quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Rowan tries to land a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Rowan is looking to close the distance.  Rowan quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Rielly lands a stinging left hook.  
Rowan hits home with a sharp left hook.  
Rielly is looking to keep his distance and attempts to land a jab, but Rowan dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Rowan advances into close range and digs in a right uppercut to Rielly's ribs.  
Rowan gets on the inside and manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Rowan dabs at his face checking for damage.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Rowan's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.

Rowan closes the distance and manages to force Rielly into a neutral corner.  Rowan is on target with a left hook.  
Rowan drives a right hook into his opponents ribs.  
Rowan digs in a right hook to Rielly's body.  
Rielly switches the action to the outside and attempts to land a jab, but Rowan slips the shot and counters with a firm right hook.  
Rowan advances into close range and walks Rielly down, trapping him on the ropes.  Rielly throws a right uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook to his opponents body.  
Rowan sidesteps to the right of his opponent and hits home with a right uppercut.  
Rowan hits home with a right uppercut.  
Rielly switches the action to the outside.  Rowan circles his opponent with a low guard, waiting for his opponent to attack.  Rielly lands with a hard jab.  
Rowan gets on the inside.  Rielly is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  
Rowan tries to land a right hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Rielly is looking to keep the action on the outside and is on target with a jab.  
Rielly lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Rowan is looking to close the distance and attempts to land a right uppercut, but Rielly parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Rielly tries to step out of his opponents range and lands three consecutive straights to his opponents head, DROPPING ROWAN TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  
Rowan lands a right hook.  
Rielly digs in a firm right hook to Rowan's body.  
Rielly lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Rielly drives a right hook into his opponents ribcage.  
Rielly pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Rielly steps away from his opponent and lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a cross to the body, a jab to the head and a cross to the head.  
Rielly lands a jab to the body followed by two straights to the head, AND SENDS ROWAN SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  Rowan almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Rowan is looking to close the distance.  Rielly tries to land a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Rowan's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.
