Jose Farias vs Alfonso Serna

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Mexico-Jalisco promoted show at Rodrigo Olan Gym, Zapopan,  taking place on 23/02/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Mexico-Jalisco Super Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Jose Farias (6 - 2 - 4) who hails from Guadalajara, Mexico and Alfonso Serna(13 - 5 - 4) from Guadalajara, Mexico.  Both Farias and Serna weighed in at 122 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Montel Almeda, and the three ringside judges are Pedro Mieras, Macario Floro and Ovidio Ariza.  

Round 1: 

Serna sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Farias dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Serna hits home with a cross.  
Serna steps inside and walks Farias onto the ropes.  Serna tries to land a left hook, but Farias parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Farias steps away from his opponent and connects with a cross.  
Serna manouvers Farias onto the ropes.  Serna connects with a left hook.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Serna.  The foul has worsened the damage  around the right eye.
