Itumeleng Maphatsoe vs Naftali Afful

Boxing Daily Report from the AI South Africa-Gauteng promoted show at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg,  taking place on 28/02/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the South Africa Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on AIT Sports, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Itumeleng Maphatsoe (20 - 5(1)) who hails from Mitchells Plain, South Africa and Naftali Afful(10 - 3(1) - 1) from Soweto, South Africa.  Both Maphatsoe and Afful weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is David Pienaar, and the three ringside judges are Tokelo Motupa, Jackson Mnyamane and Amon Makwetla.
