Azubuike Afolayan vs Hope Onazi

Boxing Daily Report from the Mbeki Promotions promoted show at Shehu Adekunde Gym, Aba,  taking place on 27/03/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Nigeria-Abia State Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Azubuike Afolayan (3 - 12 - 2) who hails from Aba, Nigeria and Hope Onazi(11 - 1 - 1) from Aba, Nigeria.  Both Afolayan and Onazi weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Tunde Obode, and the three ringside judges are Ali Sharaf, Yakubu Egbedi and Zuffur Kabir.  

Round 1: 

Onazi connects with a right hook.  
Afolayan is looking to keep the action on the outside and tries to land a cross, but Onazi blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.
