Jose Rizo vs Xavion Briceno

Boxing Daily Report from the Boakye Promotions promoted show at Angel Galicia Gym, Madrid,  taking place on 24/03/2026:

Clearly Boakye Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Jose El Sheriff Rizo (0 - 0) who hails from Madrid, Spain and Xavion Briceno(0 - 4 - 1) from Barcelona, Spain.  Rizo weighed in at 147 pounds, while Briceno weighed in at 146 pounds and 13 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Diego Sibal, and the three ringside judges are Cortez Pacheco, Carlos Montesino and Fidel Cerna.  

Round 1: 

Rizo advances into close range and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.

Rizo lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Rizo manouvers Briceno onto the ropes.  Rizo lands a left hook.

Rizo closes the distance and walks his opponent into a neutral corner.  Rizo lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.

Rizo closes the distance.  Briceno quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Rizo is on target with a solid left uppercut.  
Rizo throws a right hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Briceno's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Briceno's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Round 2: 

Rizo lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Rizo cuts off the ring, trapping Briceno in the corner.  Rizo is on target with a right hook to Briceno's ribcage.  
Briceno pivots to the right of his opponent andAs Rizo tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Briceno dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Rizo gets on the inside.  As Rizo tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Briceno has taken some damage there.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.  
Rizo pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Rizo manages to force Briceno onto the ropes.  Rizo throws a left uppercut, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  Rizo holds on to his opponent.  Rizo throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Rizo about fouling.

Rizo gets on the inside.  Briceno pivots to the left of his opponent.  Rizo lands a right hook to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the head.

Rizo throws a right hook, but his opponent slips the punch.  Rizo holds on to his opponent.  Briceno pushes his forearm into Rizo's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Briceno about fouling.  
Rizo drives a stinging right hook into his opponents body.  
Rizo hits home with a left hook.  
Rizo lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  Rizo ties up his opponent.  Rizo pushes his forearm into Briceno's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Rizo to stop fouling.  
Rizo walks Briceno onto the ropes.  Rizo connects with a left uppercut.  Rizo attempts to land a right hook, but Briceno sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Briceno's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Rizo advances into close range and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Briceno tries to step out of his opponents range.  Rizo lands a cross followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  He then lands an overhand left followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Rizo lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Rizo.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
