Iwao Hamamoto vs Daiki Maekawa

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Japan-Hokkaido promoted show at Kei Kubo Gym, Asahikawa,  taking place on 01/03/2026:

Clearly AI Japan-Hokkaido have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Japan-Hokkaido Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Iwao Hamamoto (8 - 6 - 1) who hails from Sapporo, Japan and Daiki Maekawa(12(1) - 0 - 1) from Sapporo, Japan.  Both Hamamoto and Maekawa weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Michi Kaneko, and the three ringside judges are Eiji Tanabe, Jiro Yokoyama and Yuichi Sano.  

Round 1: 

Maekawa is looking to close the distance and digs in a sharp left hook to Hamamoto's liver.
