Akil Soni vs Jyotish Maurya

Boxing Daily Report from the MaxLovesWinning promoted show at Praveen Joshi Gym, New Delhi,  taking place on 01/04/2026:

Clearly MaxLovesWinning have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the India-Delhi Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Akil Soni (8 - 5 - 7) who hails from New Delhi, India and Jyotish Maurya(4 - 12 - 3) from New Delhi, India.  Both Soni and Maurya weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Gautam Trivedi, and the three ringside judges are Malik Baten, Suneil Dhingra and Arjuna Chaudhry.  

Round 1: 

Maurya attempts to land a jab, but Soni blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Soni tries to step out of his opponents range.  Maurya lands two consecutive overhand rights to his opponents head.  
Soni drives a left hook into Maurya's body.  
Maurya tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a cross to the head followed by a jab to the body.

Maurya lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Soni sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Maurya finds the target with a jab.

Maurya is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Maurya sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a double jab to his opponents head.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Soni.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.  
Maurya feints a right hook, and then throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left hook to Maurya's body.  
Maurya steps away from his opponent and connects with a cross.  
Soni advances into close range and drives a left hook into his opponents body.
