Nathan Birwinyo vs John Elyak

Boxing Daily Report from the Manyama Promotions promoted show at Nathan Chiume Gym, Kampala,  taking place on 02/04/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Uganda-Kampala District Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Nathan Birwinyo (3 - 3 - 2) who hails from Kampala, Uganda and John Elyak(11 - 0) from Kampala, Uganda.  Birwinyo weighed in at 129 pounds And 12 ounces, while Elyak weighed in at 129 pounds And 10 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Paul Butime, and the three ringside judges are Dai Birungi, Dale Kayonga and Usi Matembe.  

Round 1: 

Elyak closes the distance.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Elyak.  That has caused nasty swelling  around the right eye.
