Dylan Holomisa vs Marinus Cronje

Boxing Daily Report from the AI South Africa-Eastern Cape promoted show at Rivaldo Nyauza Gym, Port Elizabeth,  taking place on 14/04/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the South Africa-Eastern Cape Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Dylan Holomisa (11 - 6 - 2) who hails from iBhayi, South Africa and Marinus Cronje(11 - 1) from East London, South Africa.  Holomisa weighed in at 146 pounds and 4 ounces, while Cronje weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Arnie Verster, and the three ringside judges are Chris Matata, Rob Mthethwa and Clint Mambweni.  

Round 1: 

Cronje gets on the inside.  Cronje pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Cronje quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Holomisa digs in a right hook to Cronje's body.  
Cronje steps inside and lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Cronje lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Cronje lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Cronje manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Cronje connects with a left hook.  
Cronje waits at the mid-range with a lowered guard, waiting for his opponent to throw a punch.  Holomisa lands a right hook.  
Holomisa is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Cronje lands a firm overhand right.  
Cronje steps inside and hits home with a sharp left hook.  
Holomisa tries to step out of his opponents range.  Cronje feints a jab, but Holomisa is not fooled and lands with a left hook.  
Cronje lands with a solid jab.  
Cronje strikes his opponents body with a jab.  
Cronje throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Cronje lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Cronje gets on the inside.  Cronje sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a right hook to his opponents ribs.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Holomisa's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Holomisa's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Holomisa's trainer is passing on some tactical advice. Cronje switches the action to the outside.  Holomisa lands a cross.  
Cronje feints a jab, and then hits home with a sharp cross.  
Holomisa steps away from his opponent.  Cronje is on target with an overhand right.  
Holomisa lands a cross followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Cronje lands three consecutive jabs to his opponents head.  
Holomisa tries to keep the action at long range.  Cronje sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a jab.  
Cronje lands a jab followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Cronje lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Cronje wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Holomisa dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Cronje switches the action to the outside.  Cronje contemptuously drops his hands, trying to provoke his opponent.  Holomisa attempts to land a cross, but Cronje blocks the shot and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
Cronje advances into close range and drives a firm right hook into Holomisa's body.  
Cronje lands two right hook's to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref steps in and separates the two fighters to check for damage.  Its not looking good!  The ref has ruled that the fight cannot continue due to the accidental damage.  As less than 4 rounds have been completed its going to be a no-contest!
