Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at University of Science and Technology, Beijing,  taking place on 04/04/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Starsports, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Genjo Shi (2 - 0) who hails from Nanyang, China and Zhuang Cheong(2 - 7) from Ningbo, China.  Shi weighed in at 125 pounds and 10 ounces, while Cheong weighed in at 126 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Yuan Hsu, and the three ringside judges are Jun Qi, Ye Yuen and Chung Mon.  

Round 1: 

Shi gets on the inside.  Shi pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Shi pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Shi hits home with a cross.  
Shi walks Cheong down, trapping him in a corner.  Shi sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands with a ramrod jab.  
Shi is looking to close the distance and is on target with a left uppercut.  
Shi pivots to the left of his opponent and connects with a left uppercut.  
Shi gets on the inside.  Shi sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a right uppercut to Cheong's ribcage.

Cheong throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref ignores Shi's complaints and signals for the action to continue.

Shi lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Shi closes the distance and lands a right hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Shi snaps his opponents head back with a sharp jab.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Cheong's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Cheong's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Cheong pivots to the side of his opponent.  Shi drives a right hook into Cheong's ribs.

Shi lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the body.  
Shi gets on the inside and hits home with a left hook.  
Shi lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Shi advances into close range and lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Cheong pivots to the side of his opponent.  Shi lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.

Cheong steps to the outside.  Shi lands with a spiteful jab.

The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Shi dabs at his face checking for damage.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Shi.  That has caused minor damage to the nose.  
Shi advances into close range and lands two right hooks followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Shi lands a left hook to the body followed by two right hook's to the head.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Cheong.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
