Michael Biggs vs Rob Groves

Boxing Daily Report from the Simasiku Promotions promoted show at Simasiku Gym, Auckland,  taking place on 29/04/2026:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Michael Biggs (0 - 1) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Rob Groves(1 - 0) from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Both Biggs and Groves weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Cody Paparangi, and the three ringside judges are Jay Garey, Sam Shirah and Greg Woodburn.  

Round 1: 

Groves feints a left hook, and then hits home with a cross.  
Biggs switches the action to the outside.  Groves sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a jab.

Groves steps inside.  Biggs throws a right hook, but Groves clinches his opponent.  Groves leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Biggs is looking to keep his distance and is on target with a cross.  
Groves steps inside and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Biggs tries to keep the action at long range and tries to land a jab, but Groves slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Groves waits at the mid-range with a lowered guard, waiting for his opponent to throw a punch.  Biggs tries to land an overhand right, but Groves sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Groves gets on the inside.  Biggs throws a left hook, but Groves holds on to his opponent.  Groves is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Groves is on target with a solid left uppercut to Biggs's body.

Biggs tries to keep the action at long range and tries to land a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a solid left uppercut.

Groves pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a jab.
