Michael Dagg vs Callum McTaggart

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Sunshine Coast Stadium, Sunshine Coast,  taking place on 23/05/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Michael Dagg (7 - 0) who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and Callum McTaggart(9 - 8 - 5) from Brisbane, Australia.  Dagg weighed in at 140 pounds, while McTaggart weighed in at 139 pounds and 13 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Pepe Brunetti, and the three ringside judges are Sammy Feamster, Glynn Profit and Seth Urbano.  

Round 1: 

Dagg is on target with a stinging right hook.  
Dagg closes the distance and digs in a left hook to McTaggart's body.  Dagg holds on to his opponent.  Dagg is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Dagg to stop fouling.  
McTaggart steps inside.  Dagg lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.

Dagg hits home with a right hook.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as McTaggart dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Dagg sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
McTaggart tries to land a left hook, but Dagg dodges the shot and counters with a sharp right hook.  
Dagg advances into close range and connects with a stinging right uppercut.  Dagg holds on to his opponent.  Dagg is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Dagg's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Dagg voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  McTaggart accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Dagg.

Dagg stalks his opponent...he just needs the right shot to put his opponent away!  Dagg lands a left uppercut to the body, a right hook to the head and a left uppercut to the head, AND SENDS MCTAGGART SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  McTaggart now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.

Dagg lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head, DROPPING MCTAGGART TO THE CANVAS!  He makes it to one knee, but is unable to rise any further as the ref counts 10!  The winner by KO is Dagg!
