Ian Sandison vs Phil Malmborg

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-Missouri promoted show at Kansas City Sunderlin, Kansas City,  taking place on 02/05/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the USA-Missouri Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ian Sandison (7 - 2 - 1) who hails from Kansas City, USA and Phil Malmborg(7 - 1) from Kansas City, USA.  Both Sandison and Malmborg weighed in at 126 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Mick Bihl, and the three ringside judges are Phil Ekberg, Phil Ekberg and William Harkins.  

Round 1: 

Sandison is looking to keep the action on the outside and is on target with a cross.  
Malmborg is looking to close the distance and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.

The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Sandison dabs at his face checking for damage.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Sandison.  That has caused swelling  around the right eye.
