John Pierson vs Matthew Owen

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-Virginia promoted show at Chesapeake McIver, Chesapeake,  taking place on 02/05/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the USA-Virginia Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are John Pierson (9 - 9(1) - 1) who hails from Chesapeake, USA and Matthew Owen(10 - 2) from Virginia Beach, USA.  Both Pierson and Owen weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Patrick Higgins, and the three ringside judges are Zachary Davis, Adam Walls and Cole Scott.  

Round 1: 

Owen gets on the inside and is on target with a right hook.  
Owen tries to step out of his opponents range and lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Owen closes the distance.  Pierson pivots from in front of his opponent.  Owen lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  Owen holds on to his opponent.  Owen pushes his forearm into Pierson's face.  The referee warns Owen and breaks the clinch.
