Oscar Hunua vs Theophilus Faruk

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Sunshine Coast Stadium, Sunshine Coast,  taking place on 30/05/2026:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the IRBF Super Welterweight title.  Also on the line is the WRBO Super Welterweight.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SBS1, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Oscar Toa Hunua (25(21) - 0) who hails from North Shore, New Zealand and Theophilus Faruk(20(16) - 1(1)) from Ilorin, Nigeria.  Both Hunua and Faruk weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Zain Sharifi, and the three ringside judges are Zain Sharifi, Pepe Brunetti and Brendan Moultrie.

Faruk closes the distance.  Faruk quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Faruk hits home with a right hook.  Hunua holds on to his opponent.  Hunua is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Hunua's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Hunua is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands two straights followed by a jab to his opponents head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Faruk almost instantly gets his legs back.
