Ian Varona vs Rafael Tomes

Boxing Daily Report from the Showtime Promotions promoted show at Havana International Exhibition Centre, Havana,  taking place on 16/05/2026:

Clearly Showtime Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ian Varona (11 - 4) who hails from Portland, USA and Rafael Tomes(10 - 8 - 4) from Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.  Varona weighed in at 130 pounds, while Tomes weighed in at 129 pounds and 11 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Santiago Villano, and the three ringside judges are Rodrigo Llamas, Montel Palencia and Urvano Domingo.
