Jose Godines vs Santiago Vas

Boxing Daily Report from the Ankomah Promotions promoted show at Ankomah Gym, Brasilia,  taking place on 14/04/2026:

Clearly Ankomah Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Brazil-Distrito Federal Cruiserweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Jose Godines (8 - 6 - 3) who hails from Brasilia, Brazil and Santiago Vas(11(3) - 2 - 2) from Brasilia, Brazil.  Both Godines and Vas weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Macario Arruda, and the three ringside judges are Antonio Mira, Rodrigo Pedroso and Jose Tavares.  

Round 1: 

Vas gets on the inside and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Vas closes the distance and lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Godines tries to step out of his opponents range.  Vas sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Vas lands a cross to Godines's body.  Vas attempts to land a jab, but Godines parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Vas lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Vas lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Vas advances into close range and walks his opponent down, trapping him in the blue corner.  Vas lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Vas hits home with a left hook.  Vas ties up his opponent.  Vas leans on his opponent using all his weight. Vas pushes his forearm into Godines's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Vas to stop fouling.  Vas throws a right uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Vas gets on the inside and lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Vas is on target with a sharp right hook.  
Godines attempts to land a jab, but Vas sidesteps and counters with a stinging right uppercut.  
Vas is looking to close the distance.  Godines sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Vas lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Vas clinches his opponent.  Vas hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Godines tries to keep the action at long range.  Vas tries to land a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Vas steps inside.  Vas senses a stoppage victory - he just needs the right shot.  Vas lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  He then lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body, DROPPING GODINES TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  Godines now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Vas lands three consecutive right hooks to his opponents ribs.  Vas ties up his opponent.  Vas leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Godines feints a jab, tricking Vas into throwing a right hook counter.  Godines is waiting for the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Vas lands two consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents head.  
Vas is on target with a firm left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Godines's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Vas lands a cross to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Vas sidesteps to the left of his opponent and whips in a mean left hook to Godines's body.  GODINES HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 6.  
Vas is looking to close the distance.  Vas pivots to the side of his opponent.  Vas lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  Vas ties up his opponent.  Vas is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Vas gets on the inside and lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Godines is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Vas finds the target with a jab.  
Vas is looking to close the distance.  Godines throws a left hook, but Vas ties up his opponent.  Vas throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Vas about fouling.  
Vas closes the distance and drives a right hook into his opponents ribcage.  
Vas lands two consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents head.  
Vas lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Vas hits home with a left uppercut.  
Vas hits home with a firm left hook.  As Vas tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Godines dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Godines tries to step out of his opponents range.  Vas tries to land a cross, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Vas closes the distance.  Godines pivots to the side of his opponent.  Vas lands a right hook.  Vas ties up his opponent.  Vas tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Godines behind the head. 
Godines steps away from his opponent.  Vas is on target with a jab.  
Vas lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Godines switches the action to the outside.  Godines quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and hits home with a cross.  
Vas closes the distance and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  He then lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Vas connects with a solid right hook.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Godines's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Godines's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Vas manages to force Godines into a corner.  Vas lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Vas lands a right hook.  
Vas closes the distance and lands a solid left hook.  
Vas advances into close range and forces Godines to retreat into a neutral corner.  Vas drives a stinging right hook into his opponents ribs.  
Vas lands a left hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a left uppercut to the head.  
Vas drives a stinging right hook into his opponents body.  
Vas pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a right hook to the head.  
Vas attempts to land a left hook, but Godines blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.
