Nori Iida vs Michi Kato

Boxing Daily Report from the ノックアウトボクシング promoted show at ノックアウトボクシング Gym, Osaka,  taking place on 24/04/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Nori Iida (1 - 0) who hails from Yokosuka, Japan and Michi Kato(2 - 1) from Kyoto, Japan.  Iida weighed in at 252 pounds And 6 ounces, while Kato weighed in at 247 pounds And 10 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Hikaru Mayeda, and the three ringside judges are Jun Nakahara, Shinji Iseri and Yoshi Nakano.  

Round 1: 

Iida is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the body.  
Iida gets on the inside and lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  Iida ties up his opponent.  Iida pushes his forearm into Kato's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Iida about fouling.

Iida is looking to close the distance.  Kato throws a right hook, but Iida clinches his opponent.  Iida is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Iida connects with a stinging left hook.  
Iida advances into close range.  Kato pivots to the right of his opponent.  Kato is on target with a left hook.  Iida ties up his opponent.  Iida leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. As they grapple, Iida pushes his forearm into Kato's face.  The referee warns Iida and breaks the clinch.  
Iida gets on the inside.  Kato pivots to the left of his opponent and is on target with a right hook.  
Iida manages to force Kato into the corner.  Iida lands consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents body.  
Iida attempts to land a left hook, but Kato parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Iida digs in a sharp right hook to Kato's body.  
Iida lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  Iida ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Kato pushes his forearm into Iida's face.  The ref breaks Iida's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Iida is on target with a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Kato throws a right hook, but Iida holds on to his opponent.  Iida leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Kato's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Kato's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Iida gets on the inside.  Kato steps back and leans on the ropes with his guard up.  Iida accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Kato.  Iida lands a stinging right hook.  
Iida gets on the inside.  Kato tries to land a left hook, but Iida blocks the shot and counters with a sharp left uppercut.  
Iida lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Iida connects with a left hook.  
Iida closes the distance and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Iida digs in a left uppercut to Kato's body.  
Iida lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Iida sidesteps to the left of his opponent and hits home with a firm left hook.  
Iida sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Kato dabs at his face checking for damage.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Kato has taken some damage from that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight damage to the nose.  
Iida advances into close range and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  Iida ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Kato pushes his forearm into Iida's face.  The ref breaks Iida's hold and signals for the fight to continue.
