Ali Azad vs Waqar Akhtar

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Iran-Tehran promoted show at Esteghlal Hotel, Tehran,  taking place on 22/05/2026:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Iran-Tehran Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on IRIB, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ali Azad (10 - 0) who hails from Tehran, Iran and Waqar Akhtar(10 - 5 - 1) from Tehran, Iran.  Azad weighed in at 117 pounds and 12 ounces, while Akhtar weighed in at 118 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Waleed Basher, and the three ringside judges are Amer Selim, Farhan Shahin and Umair Kazi.
