John Gitari vs Keshawn Waweru

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Kenya-Mombasa promoted show at Razi Masinde Gym, Mombasa,  taking place on 21/05/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Kenya-Mombasa Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are John Gitari (11 - 8 - 3) who hails from Mombasa, Kenya and Keshawn Waweru(9 - 2 - 2) from Mombasa, Kenya.  Gitari weighed in at 118 pounds, while Waweru weighed in at 117 pounds And 6 ounces.  
The referee tonight is George Waciuma, and the three ringside judges are Hassan Badini, George Waciuma and Nwa Lugano.

As Gitari tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Waweru has been damaged by that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.

Waweru wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Gitari dabs at his face checking for damage.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Gitari.  That has caused a slight cut in the corner of.
