Matthew Lish vs Roger Mahutoto

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Wellington promoted show at Stuart Stealey Gym, Wellington,  taking place on 26/04/2026:

Clearly AI New Zealand-Wellington have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the New Zealand-Wellington Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Matthew Lish (7 - 2) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Roger Mahutoto(4 - 6 - 6) from Wellington, New Zealand.  Both Lish and Mahutoto weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Jonathan Laurie, and the three ringside judges are Sean Stackpole, Erorangi Muunu and Glynn Morgan.

Lish steps away from his opponent and is on target with a jab.

Mahutoto throws a left hook, but Lish ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Lish pushes his forearm into Mahutoto's face.  The ref breaks Lish's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Lish lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Mahutoto gets on the inside and is on target with a right hook.  
Mahutoto advances into close range.  Lish wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Mahutoto dabs at his face checking for damage.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Lish's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.
