John Kones vs Max Lai

Boxing Daily Report from the Ndovi Promotions promoted show at Nairobi Diab, Nairobi,  taking place on 25/05/2026:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Kenya Super Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on KTV, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are John Kones (10 - 6(1) - 3) who hails from Nairobi, Kenya and Max Lai(15(1) - 3) from Nairobi, Kenya.  Kones weighed in at 154 pounds, while Lai weighed in at 153 pounds and 15 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Leon Cassam, and the three ringside judges are Bob Mbiyu, Richie Bitok and Nathan Andersson.  

Round 1: 

Lai gets on the inside and drives a stinging left hook into Kones's liver.
