Ryo Shishido vs Naoki Ige

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Tokyo International Forum, Tokyo,  taking place on 13/06/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Japan-Tokyo Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ryo Shishido (8 - 7 - 2) who hails from Tokyo, Japan and Naoki Ige(10 - 7 - 2) from Tokyo, Japan.  Both Shishido and Ige weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Michi Uyehara, and the three ringside judges are Hikaru Onaga, Hisoka Enomoto and Taro Sunada.  

Round 1: 

Ige hits home with a left hook.  Ige tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Ige steps inside and manouvers Shishido into a neutral corner.  Ige pivots to the left of his opponent and is on target with a left uppercut.  
Ige walks his opponent into the red corner.  Ige lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Shishido lands a jab followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Ige gets on the inside.  Ige pivots from in front of his opponent.  Shishido throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Ige is looking to close the distance.  Shishido connects with a right hook.  
Ige lands a straight 1 - 2.

Ige advances into close range.  Shishido hits home with a right hook.  
Shishido lands a left hook.  
Ige lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Shishido is looking to keep the action on the outside and throws a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Shishido's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Shishido's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
