Ricky Amberson vs Mark Devlin

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Canterbury promoted show at Christchurch Cathey, Christchurch,  taking place on 01/05/2026:

Clearly AI New Zealand-Canterbury have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the New Zealand-Canterbury Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ricky Amberson (6 - 8) who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and Mark Devlin(5 - 11(1)) from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Amberson weighed in at 233 pounds And 4 ounces, while Devlin weighed in at 221 pounds And 6 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Paul Moad, and the three ringside judges are Alen Nist, Corey Stobie and Ian Webb.  

Round 1: 

Amberson attempts to land a left hook, but Devlin blocks the shot and counters with a cross.

Devlin attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores Amberson's complaints and signals for the action to continue.
