Lee Slatter vs Zack Mathison

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Jamaica-Kingston promoted show at Kingston Brison, Kingston,  taking place on 24/05/2026:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SportsMax, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Lee Slatter (12 - 0) who hails from New Kingston, Jamaica and Zack Mathison(3 - 8 - 1) from Spanish Town, Jamaica.  Slatter weighed in at 130 pounds, while Mathison weighed in at 129 pounds and 9 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Mark Spotswood, and the three ringside judges are Davie Taylor, Neil Harp and Mark Spotswood.  

Round 1: 

Slatter gets on the inside.  Slatter voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Mathison accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Slatter.  
Slatter is on target with a left hook to his opponents ribs.  
Slatter drives a left uppercut into Mathison's body.  
Slatter lands with a hard jab.  
Slatter steps inside.  Mathison throws a right hook, but Slatter holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Slatter pushes his forearm into Mathison's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Mathison is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Slatter is on target with a jab.  
Slatter gets on the inside and lands a left hook to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a left uppercut to the head.  
Slatter connects with a left uppercut.  Slatter holds on to his opponent.  Slatter is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Slatter drives a left hook into his opponents ribs.  Slatter holds on to his opponent.  Slatter leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.

Slatter closes the distance.  As Slatter tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Mathison.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.  
Slatter hits home with a right hook.  
Mathison switches the action to the outside.  Slatter finds the target with a jab.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Mathison's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Mathison's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.
