Selestino Placido vs William McQuire

Boxing Daily Report from the Glove Shack promoted show at Ariake Arena, Tokyo,  taking place on 01/08/2026:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TV Tokyo, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Selestino Placido (16(12) - 2) who hails from Choloma, Honduras and William McQuire(11 - 7(3) - 1) from Glasgow, UK.  Both Placido and McQuire weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Kazuhiko Ide, and the three ringside judges are Jiro Fukumoto, Hisoka Yamamoto and Nori Tamanaha.  

Round 1: 

Placido switches the action to the outside.  Placido feints a cross, and then lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Placido steps away from his opponent and lands a straight 1 - 2.  He then lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  McQuire almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Placido throws a jab, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
McQuire gets on the inside.  Placido connects with a sharp left uppercut.  
McQuire steps inside and manouvers Placido into the corner.  Placido lands a sharp left hook.  
Placido lands a hard jab.  
McQuire advances into close range and digs in a left hook to Placido's ribs.  
Placido lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  Placido attempts to land a jab, but McQuire slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
McQuire is looking to close the distance.  Placido connects with a FEROCIOUS left uppercut.  MCQUIRE WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  McQuire quickly recovers.

McQuire attempts to land a cross, but Placido sidesteps and counters with a firm right uppercut to McQuire's ribcage.  
Placido switches the action to the outside and hits home with a stinging jab.  
McQuire attempts to land a left hook, but Placido blocks the shot and counters with a cross.
