Ian Wyly vs Mark Povey

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-Kentucky promoted show at Roger Lang Gym, Lexington,  taking place on 18/05/2026:

Clearly AI USA-Kentucky have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the USA-Kentucky Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ian Wyly (6 - 7 - 3) who hails from Lexington, USA and Mark Povey(7(2) - 0) from Louisville, USA.  Both Wyly and Povey weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Euan Slone, and the three ringside judges are Patrick Carnegie, Dave Stark and Mark Malis.  

Round 1: 

Povey advances into close range.  Povey sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Wyly hits home with an overhand right.

As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Wyly dabs at his face checking for damage.  Wyly has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.  
Povey is on target with a right hook.  Povey holds on to his opponent.  Povey leans on his opponent using all his weight. Povey uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Wyly behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Wyly steps away from his opponent.  Povey feints a right, and then lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.
