Dave Duncan vs Ray Baton

Boxing Daily Report from the Montreal's Top Gym promoted show at Pavillon de Juenesse, Quebec City,  taking place on 04/07/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Dave Duncan (9 - 0) who hails from Montreal, Canada and Ray Baton(5 - 5) from Gaineau, Canada.  Duncan weighed in at 200 pounds, while Baton weighed in at 199 pounds And 12 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Paris Clarin, and the three ringside judges are Destin Dauphin, Elliot Girardot and Michael Oliver.  

Round 1: 

Duncan lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Duncan connects with an overhand left.  
Duncan finds the target with a jab.  
Baton gets on the inside.  Duncan lands a right hook followed by  two left hooks to his opponents head.  
Duncan steps away from his opponent.  Duncan quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Duncan tries to land a jab, but Baton dodges the shot and counters with a cross.  
Duncan tries to keep the action at long range and tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Baton gets on the inside.  Duncan pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Duncan lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Duncan tries to keep the action at long range and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Duncan lands an overhand left followed by a jab to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands an overhand left followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.

Duncan lands a right hook.  As Duncan tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Baton has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused a minor cut  the right eye.  .
