John Tinlin vs John Purse

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-Illinois promoted show at Kieran Smolak Gym, Joliet,  taking place on 03/06/2026:

Clearly AI USA-Illinois have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the USA-Illinois Cruiserweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are John Tinlin (2 - 7 - 2) who hails from Chicago, USA and John Purse(4 - 7(1) - 4) from Chicago, USA.  Both Tinlin and Purse weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Inigo Gillies, and the three ringside judges are Zachary Hetrick, Nathan Espy and Sam Touch.  

Round 1: 

Tinlin is on target with a cross.

Purse sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Tinlin finds the target with a jab.  
Purse is on target with a jab to Tinlin's body.  
Purse closes the distance.  Tinlin pivots from in front of his opponent.  Purse drives a right hook into his opponents body.  
Tinlin hits home with a left hook.  
Tinlin tries to step out of his opponents range.  Purse is on target with an overhand left.  
Purse advances into close range.  Purse wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Tinlin dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Tinlin retreats back to the ropes, and waits for his opponent to attack.  Purse accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Tinlin.
