Sam Axtell vs Jay Costain

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Sunshine Coast Stadium, Sunshine Coast,  taking place on 01/08/2026:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the Oceania Super Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Sam Axtell (18 - 1 - 1) who hails from Melbourne, Australia and Jay Costain(15(4) - 3 - 2) from Waitakere, New Zealand.  Axtell weighed in at 167 pounds And 7 ounces, while Costain weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Paul Phaup, and the three ringside judges are Inigo Craigen, Mark Elgin and Glynn Profit.
