Juan Riva vs Sierra Villamar

Boxing Daily Report from the Njovu Promotions promoted show at Valencia Pabon, Valencia,  taking place on 02/07/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Venezuela-Carabobo Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Juan Riva (3 - 12 - 4) who hails from Valencia, Venezuela and Sierra Villamar(6 - 7 - 2) from Valencia, Venezuela.  Both Riva and Villamar weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Reyes Monico, and the three ringside judges are Onofre Mosqueda, Guido Albuquerque and Pablo Reta.  

Round 1: 

Villamar lands a cross to his opponents body.  
Villamar closes the distance.  Riva lands a left hook.  
Villamar throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref stops the action and gives Riva time to recover.  
Riva tries to land an overhand left, but Villamar sidesteps and counters with a left hook.

The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Villamar.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.  
Villamar drives a right hook into his opponents ribs.  
Villamar walks his opponent down, trapping him in the corner.  Riva connects with a left hook.
