Oscar Hunua vs George Nimmo

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Sunshine Coast Stadium, Sunshine Coast,  taking place on 22/08/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  On the line tonight are the IRBF Super Welterweight and WRBO Super Welterweight titles.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SBS1, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Oscar Toa Hunua (26(22) - 0) who hails from North Shore, New Zealand and George Nimmo(21(1) - 1) from Manchester, UK.  Both Hunua and Nimmo weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Richie Higgins, and the three ringside judges are Brendan Moultrie, Charlie Cacciari and Sammy Feamster.  

Round 1: 

Nimmo is looking to close the distance.  Hunua connects with a stinging right hook.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Hunua has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.
