Mark Thornton vs Alen Blythe

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Jamaica-Saint Andrew promoted show at David Hannay Gym, New Kingston,  taking place on 23/07/2026:

Clearly AI Jamaica-Saint Andrew have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Jamaica-Saint Andrew Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Mark Thornton (4 - 6 - 4) who hails from New Kingston, Jamaica and Alen Blythe(4 - 7) from New Kingston, Jamaica.  Both Thornton and Blythe weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Nichol, and the three ringside judges are Ricky Eckford, John Nichol and Nathan Law.  

Round 1: 

Thornton is on target with a right hook.

Blythe is on target with a jab.  Blythe throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref ignores Thornton's complaints and signals for the action to continue.

Blythe connects with a right uppercut.  As Thornton tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Blythe.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.
