Shankar Basu vs Baldev Narine

Boxing Daily Report from the AI India-Uttar Pradesh promoted show at Kanpur ´++Anjaneyulu, Kanpur,  taking place on 22/07/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the India Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TEN Sports, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Shankar Basu (9 - 10 - 3) who hails from Lucknow, India and Baldev Narine(11 - 6 - 5) from Surat, India.  Both Basu and Narine weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Kalidas Khaparde, and the three ringside judges are Abhay Beharry, Zuffur Khalid and Rajat Ratanpuri.  

Round 1: 

Basu is looking to close the distance and is on target with a right uppercut to Narine's body.  
Basu pivots to the side of his opponent.  Basu attempts to land a left uppercut, but Narine sidesteps and counters with a cross.

That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
