Boxing Daily Report from the JSW promoted show at Festival Hall, Melbourne,  taking place on 03/08/2026:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are John Lay (5 - 0) who hails from Perth, Australia and Jack McTaggart(8 - 5 - 4) from Canberra, Australia.  Lay weighed in at 112 pounds, while McTaggart weighed in at 111 pounds and 4 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Mark Givan, and the three ringside judges are Paul Lawrie, Sammy Lorimer and Mark Givan.  

Round 1: 

Lay quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands with a stinging jab.
