Jay Appleby vs Ellis Verdejo

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-California promoted show at San Diego Mallen, San Diego,  taking place on 12/08/2026:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the USA-California Minimumweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Jay Appleby (5 - 10(1) - 1) who hails from San Francisco, USA and Ellis Verdejo(7 - 9 - 2) from Los Angeles, USA.  Appleby weighed in at 105 pounds, while Verdejo weighed in at 104 pounds and 12 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Rob Fulton, and the three ringside judges are Ian Darling, Lewis Suttie and Mason Boyter.  

Round 1: 

Verdejo steps inside and is on target with a right hook to Appleby's ribcage.
