Mikio Saito vs Aki Kuwahara

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Tokyo,  taking place on 22/08/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a final eliminator for the Japan-Tokyo Super Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TV Tokyo, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Mikio Saito (10 - 5 - 4) who hails from Tokyo, Japan and Aki Kuwahara(12 - 4 - 2) from Hachioji, Japan.  Saito weighed in at 167 pounds and 7 ounces, while Kuwahara weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Michi Uyehara, and the three ringside judges are Nori Saito, Isamu Okimoto and Kenji Sera.  

Round 1: 

Kuwahara steps back and leans on the ropes with his guard up.  Saito is whaling away with hooks, but Kuwahara keeps his defence tight.
