Vince Groat vs Billy Samkange

Boxing Daily Report from the Harare Boxing Club promoted show at Harare Sadiki, Harare,  taking place on 15/08/2026:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Zimbabwe-Harare Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Joy TV, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Vince Groat (9 - 6) who hails from Harare, Zimbabwe and Billy Samkange(10 - 8 - 3) from Harare, Zimbabwe.  Both Groat and Samkange weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Bradley Masunda, and the three ringside judges are Adam Samkange, Mark Mujokoro and Peabo Chikwava.  

Round 1: 

Groat sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Groat throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Samkange walks Groat into the corner.  Samkange tries to land a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Groat lands a cross.  
Groat is looking to keep his distance.  Samkange is on target with an overhand right.

Samkange steps inside.  Samkange wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Groat dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Samkange is looking to keep the action on the outside and is on target with an overhand left.
