Joel Mitambo vs John Kabumba

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Zambia-Lusaka promoted show at Lusaka Hangombe, Lusaka,  taking place on 16/08/2026:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Eastern African Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on ZNBC, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Joel Mitambo (17(5) - 2(2)) who hails from Lusaka, Zambia and John Kabumba(17(1) - 5(2)) from Kampala, Uganda.  Both Mitambo and Kabumba weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Makalo Mwala, and the three ringside judges are Voshon Nchelenge, Vandwon Sipalo and Luister Sibanda.
