Boxing Daily Report from the AI South Africa-Western Cape promoted show at Bay Hotel, Cape Town,  taking place on 20/08/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Southern African Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on AIT Sports, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Lucas Verwoerd (13 - 8(2) - 1) who hails from Khayelitsha, South Africa and Vandwon Mpontshane(12 - 2 - 1) from Cape Town, South Africa.  Verwoerd weighed in at 111 pounds and 14 ounces, while Mpontshane weighed in at 112 pounds.
