Diego Mateos vs Isidro Segura

Boxing Daily Report from the Hennessy Boxing promoted show at Gimnasio Miguel Hidalgo, Puebla,  taking place on 05/09/2026:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the Mexico Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Azteca, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Diego Mateos (19 - 0) who hails from Acapulco, Mexico and Isidro Segura(20(9) - 0) from Chihuahua, Mexico.  Mateos weighed in at 111 pounds and 11 ounces, while Segura weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Dimos Corrales, and the three ringside judges are Xalvador Pimienta, Senon Simeon and Fanuco Barrera.  

Round 1: 

Segura gets on the inside and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Mateos pivots to the left of his opponent and connects with a cross.  
Segura lands a right hook to the body, a right hook to the head and a left uppercut to the body.  
Segura sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Mateos strikes his opponents body with a cross.  
Mateos tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a cross followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Segura is on target with a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Mateos steps away from his opponent.  Segura lands a cross.  
Mateos tries to step out of his opponents range.  Segura snaps his opponents head back with a ramrod jab.  
Segura gets on the inside.  Segura sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents ribs, AND SENDS MATEOS TO THE CANVAS!  He manages to get up at 4.  
Segura walks Mateos down, trapping him in a corner.  Segura sees his opponent is hurt.  He's looking for the finish!  Segura lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  He continues the combination and lands a left hook to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body, DROPPING MATEOS TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  Mateos now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.
