Quico Fernando vs Ponce Lagunas

Boxing Daily Report from the Djan Promotions promoted show at Puebla Nuncio, Puebla,  taking place on 26/08/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Mexico-Puebla Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Quico Fernando (10 - 1) who hails from Puebla, Mexico and Ponce Lagunas(7 - 3 - 4) from Puebla, Mexico.  Fernando weighed in at 134 pounds and 5 ounces, while Lagunas weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Xavier Puerta, and the three ringside judges are Fidel Villar, Miguel Ruis and Jesus Tierno.  

Round 1: 

Lagunas closes the distance.  Fernando pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left uppercut to the head, a left hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Fernando sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Lagunas dabs at his face checking for damage.
