Alejandro Cerrillo vs Joaquin Zarco

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Puerto Rico-Bayamon promoted show at Ovidio Umanzor Gym, Bayamon,  taking place on 29/08/2026:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Puerto Rico-Bayamon Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Alejandro Cerrillo (7 - 11(2) - 3) who hails from Bayamon, Puerto Rico and Joaquin Zarco(8 - 11 - 1) from Bayamon, Puerto Rico.  Both Cerrillo and Zarco weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Macario Armenta, and the three ringside judges are Juan Bailon, Joaquin Capo and Rico Balcazar.  

Round 1: 

Cerrillo retreats back to the ropes, and waits for his opponent to attack.  Zarco steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  Zarco lands a cross.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Cerrillo has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
