Jemond Maffo vs Valentin Carre

Boxing Daily Report from the Hamidou Promotions promoted show at Garoua Makanaky, Garoua,  taking place on 14/09/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Cameroon-Nord Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on CRTV, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Jemond Maffo (14 - 3) who hails from Garoua, Cameroon and Valentin Carre(9 - 3 - 3) from Garoua, Cameroon.  Maffo weighed in at 125 pounds and 8 ounces, while Carre weighed in at 126 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Luc Meyong, and the three ringside judges are Senior Binoche, Bruce Kamgaing and Waltier Moreau.  

Round 1: 

Carre throws a left uppercut, but Maffo clinches his opponent.  Carre leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Maffo is on target with a right hook.  
Carre throws a left hook, but Maffo holds on to his opponent.  Maffo pushes his forearm into Carre's face.  The referee warns Maffo and breaks the clinch.

As they grapple, Carre pushes his forearm into Maffo's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Carre.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Carre dabs at his face checking for damage.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Carre's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Carre's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Carre's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.
