Frisco Lares vs Alvino Rosero

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Philippines-Laguna promoted show at Dimos Batacan Gym, Calamba,  taking place on 29/08/2026:

Clearly AI Philippines-Laguna have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Philippines-Laguna Super Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Frisco Lares (7 - 5 - 2) who hails from Calamba, Philippines and Alvino Rosero(3 - 10 - 2) from Cabuyao, Philippines.  Both Lares and Rosero weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Santiago Oyola, and the three ringside judges are Cuba Villescas, Cortez Rosete and Santiago Trillo.  

Round 1: 

Lares throws a right uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Lares pivots to the side of his opponent and digs in a right hook to Rosero's body.  
Lares gets on the inside and manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Rosero connects with a left hook.

Lares advances into close range.  As Lares tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Rosero dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Rosero steps to the outside and throws a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Lares gets on the inside.  Rosero quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Lares is on target with a left hook.  
Lares is looking to close the distance.  Rosero pivots to the side of his opponent.  Rosero throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref ignores Lares's complaints and signals for the action to continue.

Lares has taken some damage from that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
