Matthew Saomba vs Oliver Van der Linde

Boxing Daily Report from the Quartey Promotions promoted show at Harare Mnangagwa, Harare,  taking place on 02/10/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Zimbabwe-Harare Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Joy TV, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Matthew Saomba (8 - 10(1) - 1) who hails from Harare, Zimbabwe and Oliver Van der Linde(15 - 2) from Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe.  Saomba weighed in at 130 pounds, while Van der Linde weighed in at 129 pounds and 9 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Michael Chipeta, and the three ringside judges are John Sword, John Ngoma and Steven Joubert.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Saomba.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.  
Saomba advances into close range.  Van der Linde pivots to the side of his opponent and digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.
