Bing Tao vs Dong-won Pong

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, Tokyo,  taking place on 17/10/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the East Asian Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TV Tokyo, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Bing Tao (14(2) - 3(1) - 1) who hails from Hangzhou, China and Dong-won Pong(12 - 12 - 1) from Seoul, South Korea.  Both Tao and Pong weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Aki Fujii, and the three ringside judges are Kaede Toyama, Isamu Shibuya and Akira Kishimoto.  

Round 1: 

Tao lands a solid left hook.  Tao ties up his opponent.  Tao leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Tao's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Pong throws a right uppercut, but Tao clinches his opponent.  Tao uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Pong behind the head. The referee warns Tao and breaks the clinch.
