Wang Hsiang vs Joel Smailes

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at University of the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast,  taking place on 03/10/2026:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Wang Hsiang (10 - 0) who hails from Changchun, China and Joel Smailes(9 - 7 - 1) from Brisbane, Australia.  Both Hsiang and Smailes weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Francesco Ghiglia, and the three ringside judges are John Wark, Johnny Deasmhumhain and Ian Norris.  

Round 1: 

Smailes switches the action to the outside.  Hsiang throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.
