Mike Hislop vs Diego Cortez

Boxing Daily Report from the Melvin Grayshock Promotions promoted show at Jack Meyrick Gym, San Jose,  taking place on 25/10/2026:

Clearly Melvin Grayshock Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the USA-California Cruiserweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Mike Hislop (11 - 12 - 1) who hails from Los Angeles, USA and Diego Cortez(11 - 7 - 1) from San Diego, USA.  Both Hislop and Cortez weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Noel Cadwalader, and the three ringside judges are John Malpass, Dan Beatty and Billy Fergusson.  

Round 1: 

Cortez lands a left uppercut.  
Cortez walks his opponent down, trapping him in a corner.  Cortez is on target with a left hook.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Hislop.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
Cortez gets on the inside and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Cortez steps inside and cuts off the ring, trapping Hislop in the corner.  Cortez is on target with a right hook.
